Canmore sits outside Banff National Park, and for a Canmore videographer that’s the fact that shapes a budget. Most filming in town needs no Parks Canada permit, no park entry logistics, and no federal review. The same wall of mountains is in frame with far less administration behind it.
Filming on Town of Canmore land can still require a municipal permit, and a concept that reaches into Kananaskis Country next door brings provincial permits into play. We confirm which apply to your locations and handle the applications.
The other thing that helps is distance. We’re an hour west of Calgary on the Trans-Canada, so a day shoot in Canmore doesn’t carry hotel nights, and going back for a pickup shot doesn’t reopen the budget.
