A set disappears the moment it ends unless somebody filmed it properly. Concert videography in Calgary is its own discipline: no second takes, light that changes constantly, a stage you can’t step onto, and audio that depends on a board feed. We’re a Calgary crew of musicians, and we film shows the way we’d want our own filmed.
We work for bands who need proof they can hold a room, venues and promoters selling next week’s show, and festivals that need a season’s worth of aftermovie from one weekend. The raw footage is much the same in each case. What changes is the edit, and we plan for it before load-in.
How we film a set
Live filming starts before doors. We advance the show with the venue, agree on positions with the sound tech, and take a feed from the board, multitrack when we can get it and stereo when we can’t. Room mics go on top so the recording keeps the sound of the room. Nothing we do slows the changeover or puts us between the crowd and the band.
Coverage runs multi-camera. A locked wide holds the whole stage, an operator works in close for the moments that matter, and a roamer in the crowd picks up reactions. We work with the stage lighting the venue already has. If the show is red and strobing, the film is red and strobing.
What you get back
For bands, the standard package is a full-set film plus one or two single-song cuts, synced to board audio, graded, and delivered ready for YouTube, booking submissions, and grant applications.
For venues and promoters, we cut recap clips built for the feed, fifteen to sixty seconds and vertical, delivered fast enough to promote the next show while the last one is still fresh. On a monthly series, every show adds to a promo library of crowd shots, room b-roll, and artist moments.
Rooms we know
We film in the rooms Calgary bands actually play: clubs, breweries with a corner stage, halls, and festival grounds. We know the sight lines and the quirks, which in most of these rooms means low ceilings and one working power outlet.

- We coordinate with the sound tech before doors and take a multitrack or stereo feed straight from the board, then blend in room mics so the recording keeps the crowd and the air of the room. The board feed is what makes a live recording listenable.
- Do you shoot with the lighting the venue has?
- Mostly yes. Stage lighting is part of what makes a live film feel live. We scout or advance the venue's rig, position cameras for it, and only add light when a room has none to work with.
- Can you film festival sets?
- Yes, single sets or full-day coverage across stages. Festival work needs pit access and stage-manager coordination arranged in advance, and we handle that directly with production once you confirm the booking.
